PEYTON of England and Virginia Reverend Horace Edwin HAYDEN, continues to be the leading genealogist of the PEYTON family of Virginia. His celebrated book, “Virginia Genealogies,” published in 1891, included a chapter on the PEYTON family: “PEYTON, ‘of Iselham,’ Cambridgeshire, England, Gloucester, and Westmoreland Counties, Virginia.” The author closely followed the English PEYTON lines in the 1878 book “Genealogical Memoirs of the Extinct Family of Chester of Chicheley,” by Robert E. Chester WATERS.

One hundred seventeen years ago, when Reverend HAYDEN published the lineage and history of the PEYTON family of Virginia, his work was the most comprehensive and accurate in data, scope and material ever received. Since then, his extensive “Peyton” chapter in “Virginia Genealogies” has formed the basis of all succeeding published genealogies of the Peyton family. This scanned reprint will be a welcome and necessary resource for those studying the PEYTON family of Virginia. His acclaimed essay “Descent” is included.

Genealogy, Virginia Families, British IslesJuly 28, 2007 11:45 am
I was delighted to find in this book that I have two Virginia ancestors who descend from the twenty-five famous Magna Carta Barons of 1215, who served as sureties for “The Great Charter” of liberty granted by King John of England at Runnymede. Since then, as they say, the rest is history; a history of charters of freedom to come, down to the present day.

British Isles, VirginiaApril 29, 2007 6:50 am

All of Virginia is abuzz about the upcoming arrival of Queen Elizabeth II to Jamestown and points in between from there to Washington. It was 400 years ago this month that her Royal relative, the first Queen Elizabeth, sent her British subjects to the Virginia Colony, which was named in honor of Elizabeth, the Virgin Queen. One has to wonder if at times the present Elizabeth doesn’t wish she had been a “Virgin Queen” too, considering the antics of her progeny these last few decades.

Some lucky Virginians are going to have the great honor of coming face to face with the Queen, but few of them know what to say nor how to behave. “Give the Queen a Hand, but When It Comes to Bowing . . .” don’t, advises WaPo, the local authority for all things Virginian.

Virginia’s governor has gotten into the act and has a new Web site creation about how he expects HIS subjects to behave when Her Royal Highness comes calling. First tip - she will be greatly insulted if you address her as “Her Royal Highness” , according to “Virginia’s Royal Welcome”. Furthermore, His Highness the Commonwealth’s Governor has created an entire page for Virginians to learn Queenly “Royal Etiquette.”

If you are a United States citizen you are not required to bow or curtsy to the Queen. Jolly good - as after all we fought a war over just that sort of silliness with the Queen’s Great-Great, George III back in ‘76. For genuine Americans shaking hands is acceptable. If you are British or a citizen of one of the Commonwealth states, excepting Virginia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, you must bow or curtsy, depending upon whether you are a man or a woman. Be real careful about that last rule, as these days it is hard to tell, and we don’t want anyone on Virginia soil to be suddenly banished to the Tower of London to lose his or her head. If you are an illegal immigrant - anything goes, as no one can lay a hand on you, Queens, Governors, Presidents notwithstanding.

Genealogists have to be especially cautious when talking with the Queen. Her Majesty absolutely does not want to hear that you too are descended from royalty. Even if you have the DNA evidence to back up your claim, keep your lips sealed, or you may be getting a non-tour of the Tower too.

After all these centuries of British settlement here in Virginia, it was not until the Queen’s own father, George VI, came to call in 1939, that the United States had ever been visited by a British monarch. Queen Elizabeth II is only the second Royal ruler to step upon this formerly British soil that is now the Commonwealth of Virginia. This will be only her third visit. All Hail to the Queen.

British Isles, Richardson, AustraliaJune 6, 2006 7:08 pm

About 2001, when I was creating the website for the Richardson family of Hounslow Heath, England, I found my grandfather’s family in the State Records of New South Wales, Australia, Immigrant Index of 1880-1896. On Reel 2142 was recorded his family’s arrival in 1883: Edward Richardson, age 34, Emily, age 34, Florence, age 10, Arthur, age 3, and under remarks for these people is listed “and family”. Henry, age 14, and Richard, age 13, were also found, but with no remarks. According to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, the Dallam Tower arrived on the 1st of November, “with 419 Government immigrants”.

Just recently, a Richardson cousin has sent a link to these same records that are now posted on line as ships’ passengers on “The Dallem Tower”. There are links to the original scanned records: Edward and Emily Richardson with Florence, Arthur and Agnes.

The image, Dallam Tower Manifest 1883, was originally uploaded by barneykin. It is posted here from Neddy’s flickr favorites.

WANTED: A Peyton Teenager to Accept a Full scholarship.

Brighton College in England has been searching since 2002, for a 13 to 18-year-old boy or girl to accept a scholarship. Former pupil, Derek Wakehurst Peyton, left a bequest to his Alma Mater to cover the education of a child with his same surname of “Peyton”. Since then the school has been unable to find a Peyton, even though they have contacted all 600 Peytons in UK telephone books. Headmaster Richard Cairns, who is now using internet search engines to spread the net wider throughout the Anglosphere said: “I think it is a terrible shame that we have the money available to fund a child through this wonderful school but we seem to be at a loss to find ourselves a Peyton.” Mr. Cairns described the scholarship as covering all costs apart from extras, such as trips abroad and additional music lessons.

The Queen of Great Britain has been targeted by al-Qaeda as “one of the severest enemies of Islam”. Yet, Elizabeth II is a living descendant of the Prophet Muhammed.

Al Qaeda calls British queen “enemy of Islam”
13 Nov 2005 12:35:10 GMT
LONDON, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Al Qaeda’s Ayman al-Zawahri has called Britain’s Queen Elizabeth “one of the severest enemies of Islam” in a video message after July’s deadly bombings in London, the Sunday Times reported.

The paper said the reference to the queen was part of a videotaped statement released in September after the July 7 suicide bombing attacks in which al Qaeda’s number two praises the bombings and denounces the queen.

Queen Elizabeth II descends from the Muslims who created the Arab Andalusian civilization of Spain. Those people descended from the family of the Prophet Mohammed, therefore the Queen herself is one of his direct living descendants. When Queen Elizabeth visited Morocco in 1980, the Moroccan media pointed out this Islamic ancestry of the British Queen.

Altogether the British royals have five lines of direct descent from the Prophet Muhammed. They are descended from Queen Isabella I, of Castile (1451-1504) and King Fernando who were descendants of the prophet Muhammed. They descend from the Kings of Portugal and Castile from the 1300s who were also in Muhammed’s line. Another of their lines from Muhammed comes from the King(s) of Pamplona and Navarre in the middle ages. Here is a Pedigree Of the Prophet Mohammed which refers to him as the 30th great grandfather of King George I of England. Quite interesting.
