The town of Middleburg, Virginia was founded and named by Revolutionary War hero Leven Powell as it was the “Middle Burg” between Alexandria and Winchester. Colonel Leven POWELL (1737-1810) was the son of William and Eleanor (Peyton) POWELL, and a grandson of Valentine PEYTON and his wife, Frances LINTON, of Occoquan Falls, Virginia.

On October 30, 2005 at 3 pm the town of Middleburg will be dedicating a painting of Colonel Powell.
